About the Project
I made this project during my Spring 2024 Intro to Media Production class. The assignment was to create a short first-person narrative about an interesting person in our life; I chose my friend Nick who is a student at Duquesne University studying Music. He plays the piano and saxophone, as seen in the video.
Shooting and Editing
Shooting this video was very sporadic as it was the last day he was available to record, and it was late at night. I decided to go with the lights off to create a soothing feeling like you are in a jazz club. This had some downsides, though, as it made the footage grainy in postproduction, I should have used more external lights.
Editing the project was very enjoyable, as combining the music with the visual elements felt seamless. I created a heavy blue and orange color grade to get the viewer's attention off the graininess of the footage.
Award
This project was recognized by the School of Communication at George Mason University as an honorable mention in media production. I am especially happy about this as it was my first comm class when I switched majors, so getting recognized by the school so early is amazing.
